At Abbey College, our aim in Careers is to help our students plan their route through education, in order to make well informed decisions about their futures.  We strive to support our students to see the links between what is learnt in the classroom and the outside world.  We hope this will motivate them in lessons and help them to understand that what they learn at Abbey College will prepare them for an exciting and ever changing world.

Work Experience Week is a key part of our careers programme and this year our Year 10 students will be heading out into the world of work from 9th-13th June 2025. Students will get the opportunity to develop an understanding of how business and industry operate, build self-confidence and develop skills that will help to prepare them for the responsibilities and opportunities of adult life. In order for students to also gain valuable job-hunting experience we encourage them to take responsibility for planning and finding their own placements.

This year the deadline for finding a Work Experience Placement and completing the online forms is 21st March 2025

Work experience placement forms are to be completed on Unifrog, once students have successfully secured a placement and gathered all the relavnt information, they can then enter the informtion on to +add placement, please see powerpoints below for 'How to '.

In previous years we have found that our dates can coincide with other schools Work Experience Weeks, so we would encourage all students to be looking to secure a placement as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, or concerns about this process please contact Charlotte Wilson as Work Experience Co-ordinator at

CEIAG Event (Careers Fair):

Careers Fair image

Each year we organise a CEIAG (Careers education, information, advice and guidance) event, where students can find out about a wide variety of careers and ask questions on a one-to-one basis.  The CEIAG event can provide many ideas for possible careers and should ensure that when students are choosing their GCSE options later in the academic year, they will have some idea of the qualifications they require to pursue a chosen career path. Our next Careers Fair will be held in February 2026.

The vision for Team Da Vinci is to continue and develop further our ethos where students and staff enjoy and celebrate both personal and team achievements in all areas of school life.

Through the strength of our team support, we have built an environment in which our young people want to succeed, are happy, and accept the challenges that are presented to them.

We have developed a strong sense of ‘family’ through the time we spend together on a daily basis.  Form time enables us to work closely towards many activities such as charity work, House competitions, careers, information and guidance sessions plus much more.

“One of the signs of passing youth is the birth of a sense of fellowship with other human beings as we take our place among them.”     Virginia Woolf

Woolf House believes in the same ideals. Students should fix on their goals – accept the challenge and keep going until they get there. Working as a team everyone can achieve their goals if we learn from our mistakes and listen to others.

Collaboration is the key in Woolf house!
